Answers to January’s Games

Find the Solution in the Question
  • The 4th child’s name is Mary!
  • Because a man living in Portland is still alive!
  • There’s no dirt in a hole no matter what size it is--that’s what makes it a hole!
  • Your father is asleep on the couch!
  • One end of the rope is tied to the horse, theother end isn’t tied to anything!

Think Outside the Box--There are many answers to these questions so if you have a different answer it still may be great, too!
  • A sponge was our answer, but Quinn, age 4,suggested a leaf or a human, and you might have other great answers.
  • Our answer was a bar of soap, did you have another answer?
  • We were thinking of an anchor, but what else would fit that description?
  • We thought of an onion, but there might be other answers that would work, too.

Rebus
  • Sitting On Top of the World
  • Blue Cheese
  • Big Deal
  • Walk in the Park

Warm and Cuddly or Cold as a Statue?
  • Starting at the left, the second and fourth dogs are real (the puppy and the brown dog with the red collar). The dog with the hat  and the dog with the bow are statues. And if you noticed the little dog in the window, it’s a statue, too!

Think About It
  • Did you guess a phone book?
  • If you said “Anywhere,” you’re right. We made a mistake! We meant to ask, “where on Earth can you make two right turns and end up where you started?” Ooops! Kids make mistakes sometimes, so do parents, and so do magazines! The North Pole and  the South Pole are two possible answers to the question we meant to ask.
  • Penguins live at the South Pole, but natives of the Arctic Circle live around the North Pole!
