Eyes-Closed Bedtime Stories
At UnityFamilyMatters.org, all our bedtime stories are designed to read aloud, making this a shared story-time experience. Unlike a typical children’s book, these stories rely on the power of imagination, so you won’t find old-fashioned pictures, instead you’ll help your child explore a fantastic new realm that only they can see. To make these bedtime stories extra special, we recommend that you invite your child to close their eyes, open their ears, and let their mind fly free. Magical things happen when we close our eyes to the external world. Our imagination comes to life as we move into a peaceful state, closing off the visual senses, and winding down to rest.
So try sitting or laying nearby as your child snuggles up in bed. Tell them that they are about to hear an Eyes-Closed Bedtime story, designed to be read only when kids have their eyes closed! Let them know that as soon as they shut their eyes, you’ll begin reading. If they open their eyes, stop reading! That might mean they have a question or something they want to share--great! Spend that time connecting and communicating. Then, let them know that you’ll continue reading as soon as they shut their eyes again. Try it. We’re sure you’ll both love our Eyes-Closed Bedtime Stories.
